CALLING ALL HOCKEY FANS: ODU Ice Hockey Supports Local
Cancer Organizations Through Inaugural Monarchs Fight
Cancer Game
The Old Dominion University Ice Hockey team is hosting its inaugural “Monarchs
Fight Cancer" game to raise funds for cancer research and support patients at the
Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters.
The Monarchs will face off against the VMI on October 26th at 4:20pm at Chilled Ponds Chesapeake, located at 1416
Stephanie Way in Chesapeake, VA. The game's proceeds will benefit the CHKD
Cancer Care Fund, which provides treatment and support for children with cancer
and blood disorders.
"We wanted to use our platform as student athletes to give back to important
causes in our community," said Evan Brisland, a senior and team captain. "We
chose to support CHKD because they are on the front lines of fighting cancer and
providing care for those affected."
"We're calling on all hockey fans and the greater Hampton Roads community to
join us for this important event," said Adam Danforth, Monarchs head coach.
"Together, we have the power to make a real difference in the lives of local
children and families dealing with cancer. As a son and parent of cancer survivors,
everything helps; however small."
Tickets/Donations for the "Monarchs Fight Cancer" game are $10 and can be
purchased at the door or via QR code.
